Legal Aid of Arkansas, Inc.

Make a difference for low-income Arkansas and learn about the legal system as a member of the Legal Aid fo Arkansas project serving with Legal Aid of Arkansas. Legal Aid of Arkansas is a nonprofit organization that provider free civil legal services to low-income people in 31 counties throughout North and East Arkansas. Eight positions are available, detailed below.

Activities
With appropriate training and supervision, and as assigned, you will participate in activities including the following:

 Increase the capacity of Legal Aid to provide legal information and assistance to lowi-income people who need legal help, through intake and referrals.

 Assist in maintaining client-related files and documentation.

 Coordinate outreach intake, clinics, and classes for client populations.

 Develop knowledge of the Arkansas' legal system and legal information to share with client populations and other agencies as appropriate

 Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers and interns, including pro bono attorneys, law students, other college students, and others

 Expand outreach efforts for various projects, to include developing a knowledge of and contracts with partner organizations and service agencies

 Assist with the updating, maintenance and expansion of Legal Aids websites and social media presence to provide legal information to people throughout Arkansas

 Create, administer, and process Legal Needs serveys

 Attend trainings and meetings, and submit paperwork as requested

 Perform other duties as assigned

Geograpic Specific Locations
Members will be assigned to the geographic locations below for the duration of their service. In addition to the activities described previously, more secific activities by location are set forth below.

 Helena-West Helena - Assist with the development of the Mid-Delta Medical-Legal Partnership and coordinate the implementation of additional Medical-Legal Partnerships.

 West Memphis - Focus on prisoner reentry issues and develop methods and partnerships to help reduce recidivism Coordinate the implementation of a Medical-Legal Partnership.

 Fayetteville - (two members) One member must be fluent in Marshallese and will act as a cultural liaison with domestic violence sheltesr and service providers with a prefernce for fluency in Spanish.

 Harrison - Concentration on rural outreach and intake. Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.

 Jonesboro - Concentration on outreach and education in the Latino community and to Senior Citizens. Coordinate the implementation of a Medical-Legal Partnership. Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.

 North Central Arkansas - (two members) Offices are currently located in Mt. View and Newport but the may be merged in Batesville during the term of service. These members will have a focus of providing services to th Senior Citizen community. Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred for one position.

Qualifications

 High school diploma or equivalency with a college degree preferred.
 U.S citizenship or other authorization to work in the U.S.
 Communication, listening, writing, speaking, organizational and telephone skills.
